Office Shopping Trip & Paul Bunyan's Potty

Friday, October 12, 2007
We finally went on our office shopping trip to Grand Junction. This year I got $ 289.00! It's always fun to spend money! The rule are we have to spend this on a want and not a need. So I bought a new camera ( my old camera is just fine) and a ipod. I got a great deal on my camera. It was on a great sale. After we had all spent our money we went to lunch at Red Robin. The original plan was to go to Texas Roadhouse. Kevin keeps telling me how wonderful it is. But unfortunately, it was closed. I had a great wrap at Red Robin though. I'll have to remember that.
When I got home, I sat and visited with my Dad. He had been to the doctor. He is doing to great health wise. I'm really worried about him.

I went with Doug Evans, Karen Peterson, & Krista Jensen to Canyonlands - We went into the Needles section of the park. Our first stop was at News paper rock.

Below is my great impression of the flying squirrel. We each acted out one of the petroglyphs.

Fall has come to Southeastern Utah. The leaves on the trees are all starting to change colors and it's becoming brisk. (Note the long sleeve shirt) I love this time of year though! The colors are so pretty

There we some great ruins at the top! It was worth the hike!

Conference Weekend

What a Fantastic Weekend this was! Amanda & Beau's wedding was wonderful! They were married in the SLC Temple. It was cold and rainy, and the wind blew but it turned out so nice.

I had a great day! It was so nice to spend time with Jessie & Kevin! It really makes me miss the old days! We had lunch Friday Afternoon at P.F. Chang's ! Karen had come up so she came with us. Doug was home helping his mom for preparation of game night before he could head up for the reception. It's funny how you don't realize what you've had till it's gone. Kevin was the gentleman of course and bought us all lunch. He even let the console come up in his new truck!

The picture below Kevin promised would go on the dash of his truck, next to the speedometer, because he was so lucky to spend the day with these two hot babes..

We then headed up to Ogden for the reception. Of course we had a hard time getting there ( I was with Jessie remember, who's never late? LOL!) Just kidding! It was raining like crazy and Jess and I were driving like Mario Andretti and Dale Earnhardt trying to get through all the traffic. Amanda was sweet enough to wait for us to throw the bouquet. No weddings bells in either of our futures unfortunately.

Check out Jess's Green galoshes. She was the envy of the night! Plus the fact that we were twinners in our cute little polka-dots!

Kevin met us and we went to the Prairie Schooner for dinner. It was great! We had Prime Rib. We ate in these cute little covered wagons. It was a lot of fun.
Then headed out for Logan.

I defiantly needed an Addi fix. She is getting so big. She loves to play peek-a-boo. It's so cute! It was really nice to hang out with Moey, Nick and even Buster!

Conference was really nice! I felt like the talks were very centered about what our basic beliefs are and that we need to strength those commitments. I also felt like it was a message to not only members but to the world. With Mitt Romney running for President of the United States the church has been under a magnifying glass. Since the passing away of Elder Faust we have been short one member to the council of the twelve. Elder Cook was called to be a new apostle and Elder Eyring was put into the first presidency.

I was planning on going to lunch with Seth on Saturday, but he didn’t make it back to Logan from Salt Lake so Monica, Addie and I went to lunch.
A couple months ago, Monica called work to tell me she had run into my future husband. Amy wrote this cute little note for me to call her. So Saturday, I finally meet Jeremy Peterson. We went on a double date with Monica and Odie to the Copper Mill Restaurant. It was very nice. Jeremy is originally from Redmond UT (down by Salina). He is now living in Logan. He works for IHC as the Supply Manager or something like that. He’s in charge of ordering all the supplies and equipment for the hospital. He seemed very nice. After dinner, we went back to Moey’s house and played games. Monica and Nick went to bed about 12:00 and Jeremy and I sat and visited till after 2:00 am. The best way to describe him is “meek” He is soft spoken, but not really shy.

My Unexpected Route

I just read an article in the Ensign which applied directly to me. It is the Oct 2007 Ensign written by Becky Thomas. It too good not to share:

My Unexpected Route

I never expected to be single at age 40, but the scriptures helped me find strength and draw closer to God. I recently studied the account of the children of Israel being led to the promised land. I could feel their despair as they approached the borders of the Red Sea, wondering where they could possibly go from there.

Turning 40 and still single, I believed that I too was standing on the shore, determined not to turn back, the path ahead of me uncertain. The feeling was all too familiar. I had felt it when I graduated single from college and again when I was still single at 30. Now at 40, I was still counting.

As I read, I realized we can’t always imagine what the Lord can or will do for us. The children of Israel certainly didn’t. They “lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord” (Exodus 14:10).

The Lord heard their pleas. “Lift thou up thy rod,” He instructed their prophet and leader, Moses, “and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea” (Exodus 14:16). As the Israelites walked to safety, “the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left” (Exodus 14:22).

This route the children of Israel were asked to take was an unforeseen route. It was a path no one had ever taken before. But through it, the Lord made the seemingly impossible possible.
My life has also taken an unexpected route, as have the lives of many others—perhaps those who are single parents; those who are divorced, widowed, childless, or disabled; or those who have experienced any of life’s other unanticipated scenarios.

I have found that the unexpected route is not a lesser route. The scriptures tell of some of the Lord’s most faithful servants making their way through uncommon paths. For example, Zacharias and Elisabeth were both “well stricken in years” (Luke 1:7) when they had their first child. Before Joseph of Egypt became leader to his brothers, as had been prophesied, he was enslaved and sold at their hands (see Genesis 37). Widowed Ruth supported her mother-in-law and herself, eventually marrying again and becoming a forebearer to Jesus Christ (see Ruth 1–4).

Not all are asked to take an unexpected route, and I don’t know all the reasons I have been directed to this particular path. But even though I still have moments of despair when my heart longs for the love of my life to be at my side, I have experienced great joy while pressing forward on this course. I’ve become acquainted with God as I’ve turned to Him and found answers and meaning in my day-to-day life. To learn of His love, His life, His care, His concern, and His tender mercies is the greatest life experience I could ask for.

This is like my life song! I definatley am not where I want to be right now in my life. I am at this cross roads right now. I don't know what to do or where to go. I am thinking about venturing out of my wonderful little home town of Moab and moving to the big city. ( Which one I have no clue ) I need something more in my life right now, I know that!
